"Best Seat in the House: cats in their windows"

Text from the back cover:

In more than sixty hand-painted photographs, Marcie Jan Bronstein has
captured our mysterious feline friends sitting, lying, standing, and leaning into the illuminated space of their windows. By turns whimsical and witty, philosophical and inquisitive, this book presents keen observations of our noble cats and a fresh perspective on our world.

LECTURE:

January 22 , 7 pm: "AN ARTIST'S JOURNEY": a visual autobiography, comprised of photographs, paintings, sketchbook pages, and other ephemera. Marcie's presentation will focus on the forces - family, teachers, friends, other artists and their works - that have inspired, informed, and profoundly affected both her aesthetic and her drive to create. "An Artist's Journey" reflects a long and winding journey inward, propelled, in part, by a long and winding journey outward, from Baltimore, Maryland through Delaware; New York City; Amherst, Massachusetts; San Francisco; Florence, Italy; much of Western Europe; Belfast, Maine, and beyond...

COMPLETED PERCENT FOR ART COMMISSION:

10' x 30' installation of 10 photo-collage panels for the Captain Albert W. Stevens School, Main Stairway, Belfast, Maine

For the new Captain Albert W.Stevens Elementary School in Belfast, Maine, I created a series of 10 photo-collages, which are collectively entitled “Invitation.” These works were made by combining (digitally), my photographs with illustrations created by many of the children of Belfast. In terms of thematic content, my Belfast project focuses on many things: Captain Albert W. Stevens and his accomplishments as an explorer; the rich world of the waterfront, the shore, and the sea of Belfast; a love of books and the worlds they introduce and illuminate; mathematics; architecture; art; sailing/boating; journeying.
