Grew up.

Escaped suburbia.

Moved to New York City in 1984. Studied painting, sculpture, photography at the Fashion Institute of Technology in the Fine Arts Department. Lived on 27th Street. Painted too many self portraits. Photographed them. Realized I was more interested in my photographs of my paintings, than in the paintings themselves. Discovered Truffaut. Took photos in movie theaters. Worked at White Columns. Lived on 91st Street. Waited on tables. Earned an Associates degree.

Went to The Visual Studies Workshop. Studied with Nathan Lyons. Photographed dolls and signs. Began making small books of photographs with text. Questioned making art for only art’s sake… Decided it was all I ever really wanted to do.

Transferred to Hampshire College in 1986. Studied photography and filmmaking with Abraham Ravett. Discovered Roy de Carava. Photographed people shopping in malls. Worked as a newspaper photographer. Worked as an assistant editor on films. Earned a Bachelor’s degree.

Moved to Florence, Italy. Learned to speak Italian. Learned to cook. Traveled Europe. Took a million black and white photographs. Began painting on silver gelatin prints. Lived on a sailboat. Sailed around the Mediterranean. Exhibited painted photographs in Florence and Mestre.

Moved back to NYC in 1993. Got married. Had a baby boy. Took a million photographs of him. Photographed NYC through a window on 12th Street. Developed film and printed in a bathroom. Exhibited photographs.

Moved to a barn in Belfast, Maine. Built a darkroom/studio. Photographed dogs in cars. Photographed Salvation Army dolls on blocks. Exhibited work, sold images for book covers, received commissions. Traveled to Greece and the Caribbean, the Netherlands, the Baltic Sea and Russia. Went digital.

Read a lot of books.

Focused on negative imagery and creating negative photographs. Experimented, explored, received a grant. Completed 2 large portfolios of negative photographs.

Found Joseph Campbell. (What took me so long?)

Traveled to Switzerland. Photographed mountains and skies. Continued working "in the negative." Exhibited work. Began teaching photo-based art classes to children.

Gardened. Went to Kripalu. Read The Magic Mountain.

Went back to Kripalu. Deepened my longstanding study and practice of vinyasa yoga.  Completed workshops with many fine yogis.  Began teaching yoga.

Signed a book contract with Sellers Publishing in Portland, to publish my decade-long project of photographs of dogs waiting in cars: "I'll Wait in the Car" to be released March 10, 2008.

Traveled back to Italy...

Began working on the companion book to "I'll Wait in the Car," focusing on cats in windows, to be published Spring 2009.
