Yes Is A World : 2010-2011
In November of 2010, I received a grant from the Maine Foundation, Early StARTS, to work with the children at the Starrett Children’s Center: "Yes is a World: Drawing, painting, and collage on photographs... and more"
An open-ended workshop for pre-schoolers and young elementary school children.
In the first few weeks, children drew and collaged on photographs, so that marks, lines, and colors created a new realm which merged my camera-produced images with their hand-drawn responses. In the following weeks, working independently and collaboratively, children also created puzzles & cubes, painted murals on the floor, embellished the changing “wallpaper,” played with shadows, played drawing games... and more.
